So I am sure many of you have been in this situation where you have a pressed powder product that has been smashed and makes a mess when opened.
Now I loved this blusher it was a really lovely peach colour but I accidentally dropped it and it smashed the powder but the case didn't break but is really messy to use:
If anyone has had this happen to them its pretty annoying but I am here to save the day. This trick also works with loose eye shadows.
So there are somethings you are going to need:
Surgical Spirit
Bowl
Spatula (or those stirring sticks from coffee places)
Piece of material
Something to press the reformed powder (most eye shadows a 10p coin is the right size/ USA I think its a quarter)
Step 1: empty contents into a small bowl or container ( I am using a nail dappen dish) if any large lumps are left in the powder just crush them up in the bowl.
Step 2: Take a small amount of surgical spirit ( I empty some into the cap and pore into the bowl, this way I don't end up poring too much) and then mix until its a smooth thick paste:
Step 3: Pore into the container either the original packaging or new pallet, scrape as much as you can. if the powder won't come out then put a few drops of surgical spirit to help move the powder:
Step 4: Wait till the powder is back to its original consistency (this will take a few hours be patient) and then place the material over the powder and use either a coin or something of similar shape to press the powder down till its flat and compact. By the following day the powder will be ready to use again.
Unfortunately the powder is going to smell of Surgical Spirit but it wont hurt your skin as the spirit will have evaporated.
If you find loose eyeshadow too messy to use you can press them as well, here is some loose
eye shadows that I pressed into an empty pallet, they are all Dazzle Dusts by Barry M and the glitter has not been affected by this
process in fact the colour is more intense as the product can be picked
up by the brush easily:
